The mission of Colon and Rectal Surgeons of Fairfield County, CT LLC is to provide high quality medical care in an environment that comprises empathy, convenience and efficiency. Patient satisfaction is our goal. A medical office has to have operating policies and rules to aid in reaching that objective, but every member of the health care team must understand that the objective is more important than the rules themselves. If a rule seems to interfere with the goal of helping people, then the rule must be questioned.
Many of the rules and policies of a medical office are intended to build the confidence in our patients. A strong patient relationship is necessary if the patient is to receive full benefits from the physician's services. The patient must feel sure that he/she may speak freely with the doctor, that the doctor is knowledgeable and conscientious, and the medical office is well managed. Only if those attitudes prevail, will the patient be likely to take the doctor's advice and to do his share in the follow through with complete treatment.
Another principle governing rules and policies is that the physician's time is the medical office's most valuable resource. The resource must be used carefully if sufficient medical care is to be made available to all who need it. For this reason, the employee failings, which are among the most serious, are those who waste the physician's time. Regular attendance and punctuality are, therefore, absolutely necessary in the physician's office. The employee must do everything possible to help the physician utilize time effectively. If problems arise, efforts must be made to solve them, if possible, without interrupting the doctor while he/she is performing medical duties.
